Group IV monothionides, such as Germanium(II) Sulfide (GeS), have received interest as black phosphorus analogs with anisotropic structures among two-dimensional (2D)/layer semiconductors. GeS is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap of 1.6 eV. These layers are stacked together by van der Waals interactions and can be exfoliated into thin 2D layer.

Germanium(II) Selenide Synthesis and Characterization

Alfa Chemistry provides unique 2D solutions with GeS monolayers, few-layer, and thick flakes, which are widely used in the catalytic community. We've decided to use a simple and cost-effective liquid phase exfoliation (LPE) process to create unique solutions. We make monolayers and few-layer GeSe by employing ultrasonic processing to liquid exfoliate high-purity GeS monocrystals and disperse them in a particular solvent (99.9999 percent pure electronic grade chemicals).

Since the starting GeS crystalline material we synthesized is highly crystalline, layering by ultrasonic treatment produces highly crystalline h-BN monolayers, few layers, and some thick layers suspended in solution. We can design single-layer, few-layer, multi-layer, or even bulk layered solutions, depending on your requirements.

By default, we will provide GeS sheets suspended in isopropyl alcohol because of its good dispersion, stability and high performance. If your study requires other solvents, please contact us. The types of solutions we can provide include, but are not limited to:

The customized solution is stable under ambient conditions and can be easily deposited on the customer's co-substrate to form a thin film coating. The deposited h-BN flakes have a transverse size range of about 10 nm to 10 um and a thickness range of 1 L to 10 s. The various characterizations of GeS flakes have been confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), electron energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDAX), Raman spectroscopy and radioluminescence photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Note

To reduce shipping costs, Alfa Chemistry mainly ships supersaturated 2D solutions, with concentrations depending on the type of 2D layer. Supersaturated solutions can be diluted into bulk solutions after the customer receives them. 2D layer deposition is deposited onto the desired substrate by simple and cost-effective spin casting.
