Manganese Dioxide Solution Customization

Manganese dioxide (MnO2) flakes are a two-dimensional catalytic and electronic grade semiconductor material with a distinct structure and characteristics. MnO2 has a band gap of 1.5 eV in the bulk form, which is expected to increase to 2.0 eV in the monolayer form. In recent decades, it has found applications in a variety of industries, particularly in biomedical fields, such as biocatalysis, fluorescence sensing, magnetic resonance imaging, and so on.

Alfa Chemistry specializes in two-dimensional nanomaterials research involving MXenes and MAX phase materials, black phosphorus, etc. Our R&D team is led by a group of PhDs with international research and many years of research experience. We can "personalize" our MnO2 solutions to meet our customers' needs. Contact us today to help you solve your application problems quickly.

Manganese Dioxide Synthesis and Characterization

Alfa Chemistry starts with single-crystal MnO2 and makes MnO2 flake solutions in a specific solvent for our customers. Liquid-phase exfoliation, a simple yet cost-effective solution processing technology, is used to create unique solutions. The crystals are exfoliated by ultrasonic vibrations in the liquid media. We use ultrasonic treatment to disperse the original highly crystalline MnO2 into highly crystalline MnO2 flakes, which we then suspend in a proprietary solution (99.9999 percent pure e-grade solution.) MnO2 flakes have a lateral size range of 100 nm to 30 um, and a thickness range of 1 L to 10s of layers.

We synthesized starting MnO2 crystals with a purity of 99.9999%. We used the floating zone technique to successfully manufacture environmentally stable MnO2 layered phases at the centimeter scale, in which the MnO2 crystal structure exhibits an R-3m phase with stacked vdW bound layers on top of each other. Each layer has three atomic thicknesses and is made up of O-Mn-O layers. The material is stable in the presence of air, water, and other gases. Furthermore, the crystalline layers can be simply peeled off and placed on the chosen substrate with little effort.

Because of its good dispersion, stability, and performance, Alfa Chemistry will deliver MnO2 flakes suspended in isopropanol by default. Please contact us if your research necessitates the use of different solvents. The types of solutions we can provide include, but are not limited to: ethanol, isopropanol, deionized water, NMP, IPA and DMF.

The structure, chemical composition, crystallinity and other parameters of MnO2 flakes have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), electron energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDAX), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Note

We ship supersaturated 2D solutions to save shipping costs and streamline the customs protocol/border inspection process (concentration depends specifically on the type of 2D layer). Once the supersaturated solution is in the hands of the customer, it is diluted into a bulk solution. The 2D layers are deposited into the selected substrate using a simple and cost-effective rotary casting technique.
