Description

Description HfTe5 is a member of the layered transition metal pentatelluride material family. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic phase, and our crystals exhibit perfectly layered properties. Our crystals are grown slowly using our own growth technique using 6N purity precursors.

Features And Benefits HfTe5 is at the boundary between a weak topological insulator and a strong topological insulator (TI), possibly intersecting with Dirac semimetals. It also exhibits a superconducting state under applied hydrostatic pressure.
The material peels off easily, but in air, the surface transforms into TeO2 or other tellurium oxide complexes due to the high electron affinity of the Hf and HfTe5 surfaces.
The samples can be easily exfoliated into HfTe5 sheets, where each HfTe5 chain has quasi-weak bonds to each other.
