Description Nanodiamond is a quantum material with a size of only a few nanometers to hundreds of nanometers and has a diamond structure. In particular, nitrogen vacancy centers (NV centers) are one of the most well-known point defects in nanodiamonds. When an NV center is successfully introduced, it produces coherent photoluminescence that can be easily detected from individual NV centers, especially those in the negatively charged state (NV-).

Features And Benefits Our nanodiamonds are produced using liquid phase pulsed laser ablation. In this process, a high-density pulsed laser beam (Nb-YAG laser) is focused on the surface of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) placed in a liquid (cyclohexane or water). HOPG targets are produced in our facility at the highest 6N purity, but are post-implanted with nitrogen to maximize the rate of NV center creation. The laser pulse vaporizes the HOPG for a short period of time and forms an ablation plume. These vaporized atom/graphite composites interact in some way to form nanodiamond nanoparticles of the highest purity.
