Description 1T-MoTe2 crystals are paramagnetic two-dimensional metals known to be gapless semimetals in the form of few layers and possibly topological superconductors. The layers in β-phase MoTe2 stack together via van der Waals interactions and can be exfoliated into thin 2D layers. β-MoTe2 belongs to the group VI transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC).
