The monolayer of WSe2 is almost transparent. Studies have shown that 95% of the incident light passes through the WSe 2 film and the rest is converted into electricity. Adjacent metal electrodes can change the material from p-type to n-type, enabling potential devices with tunable band gaps and the ability to produce different LED colors with just one material. The low thermal conductivity of WSe2 results in a very efficient system.
